Lost wax casting technology

Lost wax casting, also known as thin shell molding or wax mold casting, is a metal product casting process in which molten metal is poured into a mold created with a wax model (shaped like a products need molding)

Outstanding features and advantages:

  • Flow molding can adopt any material and is more flexible in terms of production capacity. Unlimited casting materials, such as aluminum, magnesium alloy, titanium alloy, copper alloy, all kinds of steel, cobalt and nickel-based heat-resistant alloys, hard materials.
  • Flow mold casting can make complex, thin-walled parts with high surface quality and good dimensional accuracy of more than 90%, thereby significantly reducing the amount of mechanical processing, and many molded parts are finished. Can be used immediately. Lost wax casting can make products weighing from a few grams to several tens of kilograms.
  • Products created by the flow casting method have very high precision and surface gloss:

+ There is no mold parting surface, so there are no mold deviations and defects caused by mold assembly,

+ There is no sample drawing process, so errors due to sample drawing are reduced

+ Hot liquid metal is poured into the mold, reducing thermal stress, so the casting is less likely to crack or warp.

  • Compared with other casting methods, flow mold casting has short processing time and low cost, does not require many large and complicated machining processes, and saves materials.

Ứng dụng của giải pháp

With high precision, lost wax casting becomes an ideal method for producing parts and components with thin walls, complex details and tight tolerances. Some industries that use lost wax casting include aerospace, medical, robotics, military manufacturers, and the automotive industry.

Aerospace

Lost wax casting is important in the construction of aircraft and spacecraft. Parts created using the lost wax casting process are found in every commercial aircraft, from door opening bearings to essential engine parts.

Car

This process is especially useful for this industry due to its excellent metal-to-metal lubrication and long lasting wear resistance. Lost wax casting is used to produce automotive parts such as pistons, cylinders, gear assemblies, valve assemblies, bearings, radiators, transmission assemblies and many other components with good lubrication, durability and high abrasion.

Oil and Gas

Products manufactured using Lost wax casting method have exceptional wear and corrosion resistance to meet the harsh operating environments in the oil and gas industry. Gate valves, pipe handling equipment, elevator components, valve holders, sliders and locking arms are all manufactured using lost wax casting with the main materials being aluminum, stainless steel and alloy steel.

Chemical industry

Parts manufactured by lost wax casting must be able to withstand temperatures between 1700° F and 2000° F. Typical products include bullnose tees, catalytic pipes, elbows, ethylene coils, heating hardware and static molding accessories.

Food industry

Some of the products manufactured using lost wax casting include meat slicers, various poultry processing equipment, ice machine parts, racks and grills for food processing. Products for the food industry are designed to withstand acidic food chemicals and are exceptionally durable to deliver reliable performance.

Medicine

Lost wax casting is the perfect method to produce medical devices that meet high precision standards with specified specifications, exceptional mechanical properties, long-life products and can be easily easy to disinfect. Products include implants, clips, surgical instruments, ultrasound probes, inorganic shapers, and more

In addition, lost wax casting method is also applied in hand tool manufacturing, mechanical component manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, dentistry, jewelry...
